Program Description

Through Newfoundland Labrador Housing, HMP is designed to provide funding to assist homeowners with low-to-moderate income who require accessibility changes to their residences, which can help promote independence, self-reliance, assist with a better quality of life, and enable individuals to remain in their own homes for a longer period.

Eligibility Criteria

Who is eligible?

  • homeowners with low-to-moderate income requiring accessibility modifications to their homes (referral from an Occupational Therapist or appropriate professional is required);
  • applicants with an annual income of $46,500 or less.

What types of items are eligible?

Accessibility modifications may include items such as:
  • Installation of a ramp; widened doorways/halls to increase space for wheelchair;
  • Handrails, lowered counter and work space in the kitchen;
  • Roll/walk-in showers, bathtub grab bars; and seats.

Forgivable Grant and or Loan Funding
